Application Procedure

The Clallam County Family YMCA prefers application in person. You may print the employment application below and bring it with you to 302 S. Francis Street (between Jesse Webster Park and Erickson Park). Of course, we will accept mail-in applications from applicants who are not yet in the area. You may also inquire about current or future YMCA positions by email or phone at 360.452.9244.

Americorps Vista (Position is Closed)
The Volunteer Center of Clallam County is looking for enthusiastic and service minded people to help us with our growing community volunteering programs.  Programs include working with high school students and agencies alike to promote a culture of positive and enriching volunteer opportunities in our community.  Selected applicant will enroll full-time in the AmeriCorps VISTA program and be contracted from April 13th, 2009 to April 12th, 2010.  Members will serve 40 hours per week with allowances for sick, vacation and holiday time.  Accepted applicants will receive a week orientation in Los Angeles.  VISTA benefits include medical insurance and a stipend of $383 every two weeks.  Candidates are required to have earned a college degree and have proficiency with communication and organizational skills.

Youth Art Assistant $8.55/hour (Position is Closed) Job Description
Seeking a creative, energetic part-time helper for youth art classes. Our art program offers several quality options for students of all levels of artistic ability. This person in this position will  work from 2-6 pm with our art instructors on most Tuesdays in preparation for our Busy Bees art classes.
Art Instructor $12/hour (Position is Closed) Job Description
We are always looking for creative, fun art instructors to teach in a variety of mediums. If you have a specialty you'd like to share, please come talk to us about it and we'll see if your experience meets with the needs of our program.

Camp Pahata Summer Counselor (Position is Closed)
Camp Pahata is a weeklong YMCA resident camp that is located on Lake Crescent at Camp David, Jr. The camp is run as a traditional Summer Camp where groups of kids in the same age group share a cabin with a counselor and throughout the day participate in a variety of activities. Successful applicants are positive role models who can enforce camp rules and ethics and have fun with kids.

Camp Sutherland Camp Lifeguard (Position is Closed)
See below for information regarding this camp. Lifeguards must be 18 years of age or older, have a Red Cross Lifeguard certification, Waterfront certification and CPR/1st Aid certification.

Camp Sutherland Summer Counselor (Position is Closed)
Camp Sutherland is a weeklong YMCA resident camp (two sessions) that is located on Lake Sutherland at Fisher Cove. Successful applicants will have desire and experience working and playing with kids between 8 and 13 years of age.

Group Leader--Y's Kids After-school Child Care $9/hour

Job Description
The person in this important role is responsible for the supervision and safety of children between 5 and 12 years of age. The YMCA will be providing after-school child care at Hamilton, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Dry Creek. Gymnastics Instructor $8.55/hour (Position is Closed) Job Description
We are currently aniticpating a need for gymnastic instructors beginning with our fall session. Gymnastics Instructors must exhibit an energetic and fun personality that is able to engage children while commanding respect of children and adult participants alike. Janitor $9/hour (Position is Closed) Job Description
The person in this position is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the YMCA facility and grounds. Night-time work schedule to be determined. We are looking for someone who is energetic, and abides by the four core values of the YMCA of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Position schedule is flexible. Min. age 18. Membership Services Representative--MSR I $8.75/hour

Job Description
The front desk is where future members become new members and program participants get the needed information for enrollment in our popular programs. Check, cash-handling, computer work and lots of smiles and helping hands are involved in this fast-paced, multi-tasking position. MS Office/typing/clerical skills necessary. Evening shift available.

Playcare Aide $8.55/hour (Position is Closed) Job Description
This service is available for parents who are working out at the Y. We offer, for a small fee, care for members' children who are between 0 and 11 years of age. Staff must love working with children and exhibit patience and initiative. Hours available in this position are in the morning and about 15 hours per week.

Basketball Referee (Position is Closed)
The YMCA is currently looking for youth basketball referees for our 08-09 season. Referees will be working with youth from grade 3 to grade 6. Knowledge of the game required but experience refereeing not.  Season will run from Dec. 6th – February 21st.  Games are on Saturdays at Stevens Middle School beginning at 9am and ending at 4pm.  There will be no games on the weekends Dec. 27th, Jan. 3rd, Jan. 17th, Jan. 23, and Feb. 14th.  Wages will be $8.10/hr - $10/hr depending on experience. Site Director Child Care--Dry Creek Elementary Site $11/hour
(Position is Closed)
Job Description
Planning, supervising, coordinating, and meticulous record-keeping are part of this demanding but rewarding position. If you are detail-oriented, have good disciplinary skills and the desire to create a fun and safe learning environment for after-school youth, please apply in person today. Typical hours are from 1-6:30 or appx. 30 hours per week.

Volunteer Project Laborers Needed: Dream Playground Shelter Build
The Dream Playground was built over five days in September 2002 by more than two thousand local volunteers and is one of the largest volunteer projects Clallam County has ever seen. Now we need your help in constructing a shelter where families can gather and enjoy the park even during those less-than-optimal weather days.
June 2:  Two masons to build low concrete walls at the entrance (We are having a tremendous amount of difficulty finding masons.)
June 2 & 3:  Two skilled carpenters and two unskilled laborers to wrap posts, rout tile-holders, and build benches and low walls.
June 4:  Four skilled carpenters and two unskilled laborers to finish benches and low walls and to construct picnic tables.
June 4:  Two tile layers to affix handprint tiles to masonry walls.
